Nearly a Thousand Smart Lockers on the Mumbai Metro 

In Mumbai, India, the Metro Line 1 has deployed 996 smart storage lockers across its 12 stations. These lockers can be used via an App, SMS, or QR code, with charges based on the size of the locker and the duration of use. Beyond personal temporary storage, future plans include integrating functions for e-commerce parcel self-pickup and sending, transforming them into micro-nodes of the city's logistics network and contributing to the reduction of carbon emissions from logistics vehicles.

United Kingdom: Stasher and Quadient Expansion

In May 2025, luggage storage platform Stasher partnered with Quadient to deploy over 1,640 smart lockers across seven major UK cities—London, Birmingham, York, Edinburgh, Newcastle, Cardiff, and Manchester. These lockers are embedded in high-traffic locations, including train stations, serving as 24/7 hubs for travelers to drop off or retrieve luggage. Each locker features steel construction, PIN/barcode access, and image capture for theft-proof storage. 

The Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) and Austrian Post have partnered to install 24/7 parcel lockers at train stations across Austria. Approximately 50 lockers are being deployed, each featuring an innovative design with photovoltaic modules on the roof for energy self-sufficiency. The first unit was installed at Leobendorf station, featuring over 50 compartments. This initiative transforms railway stations into "central mobility hubs" where passengers can combine their daily commute with parcel services 

France: Quadient National Network

Quadient has deployed over 1,000 automated parcel lockers across France, with locations including train stations, Carrefour retail stores, shopping centers, and other public spaces. These lockers operate 24/7 and support parcel delivery and pickup, and are expanding to include returns and second-hand parcel management

The price for a smart storage locker is not high. One main locker can add several deputy lockers. The price may vary depending on the configuration, such as screen size, addition of a 4G module, charging devices, etc. The price range for the main locker is US$400-US$1500
